For Inspiration and Recogiton of Science and Technology (FIRST) is an organization that encourages students to get excited about learning science and technology. By assigning a different themed game every year the FIRST Lego League creates real world problems for students to solve.
 

The 2014 competition challenge is World Class, Learning Unleashed. Each Challenge has three parts: the Robot Game, the Project, and the FLL Core Values. Teams of up to ten children, ages 9-14, with one adult coach, participate in the Challenge by programming an autonomous robot to score points on a themed playing field, developing a solution to a problem they have identified, all guided by the FLL Core Values.
